Ideas Have Consequences

Season Three Preview

Disciple Nations Alliance Season 3

We’re so excited for this next season of Ideas Have Consequences. In a moment of cultural confusion and competing narratives, we invite you to join us as we seek to move from knowing biblical truth to living it.

Ideas and worldviews shape families, influence culture and public life, and ultimately determine whether societies flourish or fail. Hosted by Scott Allen, Darrow Miller, and Luke Allen, this season features a fascinating lineup of guests, including Dr. George Barna, Vishal Mangalwadi, Seth Gruber, Katy Faust, and more.

Together, we unpack topics ranging from AI and immigration to homelessness, IVF, Marxism, and Islam, all with one aim: to help followers of Jesus live faithful, thoughtful, and fully Christ-centered lives, as we seek to disciple our nations.

Luke Allen:

Hey everyone, welcome back to season three of Ideas Have Consequences. This is the podcast of the Disciple Nations Alliance. Today is not episode one of the season, that's going to be coming out next Tuesday, but today we wanted to give you guys a little bit of a sneak peek on what to expect in this coming season of the podcast. Worldviews shape communities, influence politics, steer economics, set social norms, and ultimately affect the well-being of both your life and your nation. Obedience to the Great Commission, which is of course go and make disciples of all nations, involves replacing false ideas with biblical truth. Together with the help of friends here on season three, our mission is to not just tell you, but demonstrate to you that only biblical truths lead to flourishing lives, families, societies, and nations. This show explores the intersection of faith and culture, aiming to address pressing social issues through a biblical lens. Together you're going to hear myself, Luke Allen, my dad, Scott Allen, and our good friend and the founder of our ministry, Darrow Miller, co-hosts this season for you, bringing uh all of the pressing issues that we are seeing going on in our world today, hopefully to the forefront of this show, and again just unpacking the ideas that we see at play in the world with the help of our good friends. A couple of the guests that you'll hear us uh be interviewing here in the first few episodes are some of the favorites here on the show, as well as new guests joining us for the first time. Uh episode one, we are joined by Vichel Mongowadi. Um, usually he is one of your guys' favorite guests to have on the show, so we're gonna be sharing that episode with you guys next week. Uh, we are also joined by our good friend Ina Richards. Um we'll have Dr. George Barna joining us soon. Uh Tim Barnett, Katie Faust, Lennox Calafungwa, Jeff Myers, Juan Valdez, and that's just to name a few of the guests that'll be joining us soon. Uh, Dad, as far as some of the upcoming topics that people can expect uh from this season on the show, what are you hoping to talk about? What have we already planned on top talking about? Um, what are we gonna be unpacking?

Scott Allen:

Well, I mean, ultimately, Luke, we're gonna be again looking at how uh the Bible and a biblical worldview really are at the foundation of uh the kind of kingdom transformation, the truth, goodness, and beauty that God wants to see uh in any of our lives and nations. We're gonna get, you know, into just what are those foundational biblical principles that lead to flourishing. Of course, we're gonna have to deal with the dominant worldviews of the day and how they shape the world around us, uh worldviews like Marxism, socialism, these dominant sets of ideas that are out there shaping our culture today. We're gonna deal with current issues. I mean, our world is changing so rapidly today. Uh we'll we'll deal with issues of AI and you know, we're always gonna be touching on some of the foundational issues that are at the root of of of everything else, issues of family, of education, of of just basic human life, uh the pro-life movement. Uh we're gonna talk uh with Katie Faust about IVF and uh and of course we're also gonna be having Darrow come on and uh, you know, as he's co-hosting with us, we're gonna be introducing his new book, Occupy Tell Icom, where he's looking at uh the kind of the crisis that we're in culturally right now in the West in particular, and how we as Christians need to understand and respond to it. So that'll be great as well.

Luke Allen:

Yeah, as always, um here on the show, we're trying to speak to Christians and help you unpack pressing cultural issues in a way that sometimes churches aren't able to do, um, which is totally fine. Churches are there for the equipping of the saints, um, but sometimes don't have the opportunity to speak into things like uh the immigration conversations going on right now in our country, speak into things like universal and basic income, uh, which is a big topic we're hearing about today, the rise of the influence of Islam in the West. Uh topics like this. What does what does the Bible have to say about this? And how can we live faithfully uh right now as Christians in uh uh like you were saying, Dad, representing God's good design for us, which means representing his truth, his goodness, and his beauty in our world that needs it so desperately. So we're looking forward to this season, guys. I hope that you are as well, and you're planning on joining us for each episode. We definitely know we are looking forward to um every conversation that's coming up. So as always, uh we'll release an episode once a week here on the podcast. You can find this podcast wherever you get your audio podcasts, and uh, we release episodes on Tuesdays. So, Dad, thanks, thanks again for uh for being a part of this.

Scott Allen:

Well, Luke, thanks for all you're doing. It's gonna be a great season.

Luke Allen:

I'm super excited. I hope our listeners are as well. Yeah, right on. All right. I hope you guys have a great week, and we'll catch you here next week on Ideas Have Consequences.
